Job Duties
- Responsible for daily Pre-Task Planning of work performed in the field
- Assist journeyman pipe fitters or peers with the demolition, de-installation, rigging, fitting, and/or installation of equipment, supports, and pipe on site
- Communicate clearly verbally, digitally, and in writing
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Proactively receive mentoring from a journeyman pipefitter or Supervisors
- Use hand and power tools with proper certification
- Over the four-year period of the apprenticeship, learn and apply knowledge of the following:
- Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping systems
- Making and reading isometric drawings
- Reading construction plans and shop drawings for pipe systems
- Inspecting and testing piping systems
- Piping industry codes
- May be required to take Pipefitter Journeyman License Test after four years
- May be required to travel
- Maintain a good attendance record and comply with apprenticeship program requirements
- Maintain a record of on-the-job training and submit to apprenticeship program as required
- Other duties, as assigned
- Employee may be required to work extended hours (more than 8 hours per day), weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous construction experience
- OSHA 10 preferred
- Must successfully complete background check and drug/alcohol testing
- Must have personal hand tools
- May be required to register with the appropriate apprenticeship board as an apprentice pipefitter or welder
- May be required to take specialty training
