Position: Utility System Technician I/II - CDL (wastewater)

Overview

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals to join the Wastewater Collection team as a Utility Systems Technician I - CDL or a Utility Systems Technician II - CDL. The position schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Positions require availability for emergency call-outs, overtime (including nights, weekends and holidays), and standby as needed.

Note: Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

We are looking for team members who have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We seek individuals to perform installations, maintenance, inspections and repairs on wastewater collection systems.

Position Details

Utility Systems Technician I - CDL — $21.56 to $29.10/hr DOE

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; and
  • 1 year of general construction and/or maintenance, installation, and repair experience; and
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; and
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with tank endorsement within 6 months of hire or promotion date; and
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Temporary Traffic Control Safety Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion date; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Utility Systems Technician II - CDL — $24.69 to $33.32/hr DOE

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; and
  • 2 years of experience in construction, maintenance, repair work and/or equipment operation including at least 1 year of municipal, commercial or industrial pipe installation; and
  • Valid Class A CDL with tank endorsement and an acceptable driving record at time of hire or promotion; and
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Temporary Traffic Control Safety Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion date; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city’s Drug Free Workplace Policy.
