Security Officer

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will ensure that the healthcare enterprise remains a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and managing visitor flow, as well as observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site.

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes.
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to locations where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Have knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, report HIPPA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports.
• Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events; complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner; use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location.

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Six (6) months experience as a Security Officer involving extensive public contact
• Valid AZ Driver's License
• American Heart Association‑issued BLS card within 60 days of hire

Preferred:

• Completion of college level education courses in Criminal Justice
• One (1) year experience as a Security Officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service
• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
