Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Chandler, Arizona. You will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and high-quality care to critically injured patients.
Provide care to general surgery and trauma patients at level 1 trauma hospital.
12 hour shifts to support mix of day and night coverage.
Provide coverage to a 24 hour/7 day a week service line.
Obtain pertinent medical history and appropriate physical exams.
Orders and interprets pertinent lab and/or xray studies and conveys information to attending physicians.
Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Counsels patients on pre and post-operative care, post-trauma care, recovery and expectations.
Rounding with residents/students.
Occasionally assist surgeons by providing first assistant surgical services
Assists attending surgeons in hospital by making patient rounds, recording pertinent information in the patient’s medical record
Prescribes medications within scope of practice and Arizona law
Performs bedside procedures within scope of practice and delineation of privileges
Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity
Maintain appropriate licensure required for role and active privileges at hospital
Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the health system’s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
Valid DEA registration.
Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
Compact state or Arizona RN license
Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse license
Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
Valid DEA registration
Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
