Infrastructure Engineering Specialist (Middleware/MQ)

Employment Type: Contingent Assignment

In this contingent role, you will contribute to moderately complex initiatives within the Infrastructure Engineering organization. You will help support large-scale system planning, evaluate engineering challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure services. This position requires strong technical expertise in middleware messaging technologies and the ability to operate in an enterprise-level, compliance-driven environment.

• Participate in moderately complex Infrastructure Engineering initiatives and contribute to large-scale planning efforts.
• Analyze infrastructure challenges requiring evaluation of multiple variables and provide recommendations or solutions.
• Support the resolution of moderately complex engineering issues while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and client personnel to meet key infrastructure deliverables.
• Perform advanced administration of middleware messaging platforms, including installation, configuration, deployments, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Configure and manage MQ Queue Managers, Clusters, and MQ objects such as queues, channels, listeners, and topics.
• Support incident management workflows, including monitoring alerts, addressing batch failures, and managing Service Now tickets.
• Participate in outage bridges, triage issues, and drive timely resolution.
• Provide implementation support for compliance and risk management initiatives.

• 4 years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering or Solutions Engineering experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through work, military service, training, or education.

• 8 years of hands-on experience with large-scale middleware messaging environments such as IBM MQ (Web Sphere MQ), IBM ACE/IIB (Message Broker), Apache Kafka, Solace.
• Extensive MQ administration experience, including installation, builds, maintenance, configuration, patching, and compliance.
• Proven experience with MQ Queue Manager setup and MQ cluster troubleshooting.
• Experience creating, configuring, and maintaining MQ objects.
• z/OS Mainframe experience (preferred).
• Strong team leadership or technical leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• 12 years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of MQ monitoring tools (e.g., IR360).
• Experience supporting enterprise-level environments with strict compliance and risk standards.
• Hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS, zLinux, and AIX (preferred).
• Experience with IBM MQ Appliance.
• Familiarity with Service Now (Incident Management), Ansible, and uDeploy.
• Understanding of job failure types and related troubleshooting processes.
