Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems is looking for an Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer Level 7 with Anti‑Tamper Solution Experience to work with our Advanced Weapons team. An active Secret clearance is required to start this role.
Responsibilities- Provide analysis, development, implementation, and security assessments of embedded systems to ensure compliance with NIST SP 800‑53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF guidance
- Analyze customer concept of operations, employment and cybersecurity/anti‑tamper requirements to propose, design, develop, and implement security/protection controls
- Define system architectures that are resistant to tampering and cyber‑attacks
- Support system requirements development by following standard processes for assessing, implementing, and verifying security requirements
- Interface with inter‑organizational management and external customers to communicate technical briefings and program status
- Participate in the development of training plans to grow the team
- B.S. degree in an engineering/computer science discipline and a minimum of 16 years of related experience, or equivalent M.S./Ph.D. with corresponding experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience designing, developing and implementing FPGA solutions as a Security Controller for embedded weapons systems
- Demonstrated expertise with firmware and software requirements derivation for security applications
- Proficiency in designing and implementing firmware (VHDL or Verilog) and software (C, C++) for security applications
- Experience with Xilinx, Micro Semi, and Intel FPGA families
- Knowledge of current cryptographic algorithms used for encryption/decryption, digital signatures, and hashes
- Understanding of cryptographic vulnerabilities
- Familiarity with US‑Only and FMS efforts
- Strong technical problem‑solving and root‑cause corrective action skills
- Previous experience directing and managing an engineering team in security solution development, integration, test, and verification
- Knowledgeable about the AT customer community
- Experience briefing complex technical, cost, and schedule to the DoD customer
- Demonstrated capability to grow junior talent
- U.S. citizenship and an active Secret DoD clearance, with ability to obtain higher SAP clearance
- Advanced degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering
- Experience compiling software assurance activities per DASD (SE) PPP Outline
- Experience writing Verification & Validation Test Plans and procedures
- Participation in V&V events with ATET
- Experience working in SAP areas
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $ (location based). Base salary is determined by responsibilities, experience, and market conditions.
