Overview

A System Administrator 1 (SA1) is responsible for supporting the daily operations of IT systems and infrastructure. This position involves system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks, while continuing to learn and grow your foundation in networking, cloud technologies, and automation. The SA1 works under the guidance of the IT Director and senior team members, and follows established procedures to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of IT environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux).
  • Provide Tier 1-2 technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Perform routine monitoring of systems, networks, and firewalls to maintain uptime and performance.
  • Troubleshoot basic networking and connectivity issues (e.g., DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Apply patches, updates, and system backups according to schedule.
  • Use, develop and help maintain scripts (Python, Power Shell, Bash) to automate routine tasks.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support and learn cloud environments and services (Azure/AWS).
  • Follow cybersecurity best practices and elevate security incidents to senior staff.
  • Configure and manage virtual machines.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or Bash.
  • A solid understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Exposure to cloud services (Azure/AWS) and virtualization concepts (e.g. vSphere/Virtual Box).
  • Experience with firewalls and fundamental cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience working with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience using AI tools that enhance your creativity and solutions development.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to follow, contribute, and create technical documentation (SOPs).
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in an IT support or system administrator role.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g.,
    CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) are a strong plus.
