Job Description & How to Apply Below

Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together. The Company’s three core products are Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world;
Lens Studio, an augmented reality platform that powers AR across Snapchat and other services; and its AR glasses, Spectacles.

The Spectacles team is pushing the boundaries of technology to bring people closer together in the real world. Our fifth‑generation Spectacles, powered by Snap OS, showcase how standalone, see‑through AR glasses make playing, learning, and working better together.

Snap’s camera supports real friendships through visual communication, self‑expression and storytelling. Moving forward, our camera will play a transformative role in how people experience the world around them, combining what they see in the real world, with all that’s available to them in the digital world.

We’re looking for a well‑rounded, high‑level, Mechanical Engineer to join the Spectacles team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:
  • Lead development of new product designs, systems, and processes with a primary focus on micro‑displays and subsystems related to AR technologies
  • Perform opto‑mechanical and electromechanical system design from concept through production
  • Drive troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and validation of complex mechanical systems and assemblies
  • Execute complex tolerance analyses for precision opto‑mechanical assemblies
  • Plan and execute design of experiments (DOE) and apply design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM/DFA) principles
  • Manage technical deliverables from external partners (CMs, vendors) to address critical yield and quality issues and implement manufacturing process changes
  • Support fabrication, assembly, and bring‑up of mechanical systems (with some electrical integration)
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis, test, evaluation, and validation to ensure performance and reliability
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to cross‑functional teams and leadership
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation including reports, specifications, drawings, and change documentation
  • Provide mechanical engineering support to cross‑functional teams and suppliers on product design, system integration, and production equipment/processes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Independently own and execute engineering projects, including research, design, analysis, test, validation, and design reviews
  • Operate effectively across disciplines, contributing beyond mechanical engineering into electrical, optical, controls, process, or manufacturing domains as required
  • Translate system‑level requirements into robust mechanical designs within schedule and budget constraints
  • Apply engineering theory, simulation/FEA, and experimental validation to drive design decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and qualify new vendors and material technologies in the electronics packaging market to improve manufacturing capability and product performance
  • Develop and execute DOEs to characterize performance, reliability, and manufacturing sensitivity
  • Apply manufacturing principles (DFM/DFA) to product designs and support development of scalable manufacturing processes
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, suppliers, and non‑technical stakeholders
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in product design and development
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Solid Works within the last 10 years
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using Siemens NX within the last 10 years
  • Ability to accommodate up to 20% travel (domestic and international)
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with near‑eye devices, augmented reality (AR), camera modules, and/or display technologies
  • Experience designing small, precision mechanical systems requiring high stability under complex thermal and mechanical loading
  • Proven…
