Job Summary

Bechtel is looking for an experienced Architect that has designed and built data centers, and is well-versed in the unique aspects of such projects, including air flow management, power distribution, and life safety considerations. You will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting.

Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project's architectural aspects.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews architectural work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit. Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
  • Develops conceptual designs for architectural projects or projects having specialized or unique architectural requirements.
  • Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
  • Prepares the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
  • Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of architectural aspects of the work.
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.
  • Mentors architectural personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Center building types or Industrial or Semiconductor projects occupancies, and broad familiarity with other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Building codes and building permitting.
  • Preferred Experience with design, construction, and commissioning activities, and a thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects.
  • A professional architectural license is required.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Navisworks.
