What

You’ll Do – Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a CAD CAM Engineer, you will play a critical role in printed wiring board (PWB) design and development for aerospace and military applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and laying out complex printed wiring boards for avionics and test systems.
  • Collaborating with circuit design and mechanical engineers to ensure proper form, fit, and function.
  • Supporting high-speed digital, analog, and power circuit routing.
  • Managing footprint and symbol creation, along with library maintenance.
  • Preparing artwork packages (Gerbers, ODB++) for fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Participating in peer reviews, design milestone reviews, and quality assurance processes.
  • Communicating technical progress, risks, and status updates to leadership.
  • Supporting controlled-impedance and high-density multilayer board designs.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and design optimization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of recent printed wiring board design and layout experience using Cadence Allegro.
  • Associate degree or equivalent 2-year technical training with relevant experience.
  • Experience designing high-density multilayer boards (6–16 layers).
  • Expertise in routing digital, analog, and power circuits.
  • Knowledge of high-speed design including SERDES, DDR3/DDR4, and controlled impedance.
  • Experience with rigid-flex assemblies.
  • Ability to prepare fabrication artwork and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of IPC-2221 and IPC-7351 standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
    This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies:
    1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or
    2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of printed wiring assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAM
    350 and/or Valor DFM tools.
  • Familiarity with OrCAD Layout, Mentor PADS, or Xpedition tool suites.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense electronics environments.
