Introduction to the job
As our Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers who help our Customer Support (CS) organization install, repair and maintain ASML systems at customer sites. You ensure that our chipmaking systems work as they should - and be part of the technology innovation that's moving the world forward.
Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you'll be a technical specialist who is expected to calibrate and qualify the machine on site, according to a pre-defined test-sequence similar to the tests that have previously been performed in Veldhoven. You will work with co-workers, and the customer in isolating and solving problems, as well as acting as a resource for users on routine malfunctions. You'll be responsible for performing administrative and coordination duties, including pass-downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, and monthly reports, as well as preparing written technical reports on an independent basis.
You'll report to the Senior Team Lead, but you'll also be part of the larger Customer Solutions & Support sector - where the in-fab installation and optimization of ASML products happens.
As an Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you'll:
Assemble and qualify the machine on site, according to procedure in a pre-defined sequence.
Build, install and align components to a complete machine.
Install ASML equipment at customer locations, including equipment with new features, pilot and proto systems.
Analyze applicability, accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
Recommend design changes or substitution of materials when appropriate.
Evaluate and diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs.
Work with co-workers and the customer in isolating and solving problems.
Answer customer questions and assist customers in a professional manner.
Provide if appropriate support and assistance to less experienced ASML or local personnel as necessary.
Perform complex adjustments, perform upgrades, diagnose and solve problems with limited support.
Prepare written technical reports if required.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
Minimum 4+ years' experience in semiconductor industry preferred.
Minimum 4+ years' Field Service Engineer work experience preferred.
Minimum 4+ years' experience in using computer applications, including data analysis tools, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software preferred.
Knowledge of the semiconductor industry, vacuum system, or plasma is preferred.

Flexibility to expand capability in multiple technical competencies related to system upgrades, installs, and relocations, including mechanical installs (MI) and system integration (SI) competencies.
Other information
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R.
* 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology before beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
This position is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to operate heavy/complex machinery and work in a safe and alert manner.
Will be required to work a compressed work week if there is a business need.
Typically, will work 12-hour shifts.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
