Overview
Senior Estimator position are hiring for our office to contribute to a range of infrastructure projects with focus on accurate cost estimation and collaboration with project teams.
What you will contribute- Analyzes blueprints and other documents and prepares detailed cost estimates. Performs accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents.
- Leads the development of conceptual and feasibility cost model estimates utilizing historic benchmarking information and industry experience to develop complete early stage cost estimate forecasting.
- Obtains accurate and up to date pricing information from databases, contractors, suppliers, etc. to utilize in estimates.
- Reviews inputted estimate takeoff information for specific disciplines to assess accuracy and suitability for project type and requirements.
- Reviews and finalizes estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and project logistics.
- Reviews historic benchmark cost information and highlights variances.
- Works with architects and engineers to develop a clear understanding of project scope during preparation of the estimate. Develops relationships with A/E firm members and project team members.
- Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates and explains variance cost drivers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Operates in a context of complex or novel assignments requiring advanced techniques and modification of theories and practices.
- Exhibits independent judgment with supervision focused on objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters; consults with supervisor on unusual problems.
- Supervises, gives work direction to, and/or reviews the work of junior technical staff and others assisting in assignments.
- Represents the organization in conferences with clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying or related field, plus seven years of relevant experience.
- Professional designation such as RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, LEED AP, RA, or related appraisal or real estate licensure is preferred.
- Strong articulation, analytical problem-solving, decision-making abilities, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong skills in CATO, electronic quantity takeoff, and Primavera. Knowledge of estimating program functionality and WBS is preferred.
- Knowledge of local construction market, pricing conventions and trends; ability to prepare conceptual cost model estimates from limited information using local historic cost data.
- Proficiency with information technology including Internet, Intranet, Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
