This role is ideal for someone who wants real exposure to engineering and manufacturing, not just classroom theory.
Position OverviewPhoenix Sensors is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Assistant to support engineering and manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role that provides practical experience in CAD design, manufacturing support, assembly, and process improvement within a small, fast-moving engineering team. You will work directly with engineering and manufacturing leadership and gain exposure to real-world product development and production challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Create, update, and maintain CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for active projects
- Assist with the development, documentation, and revision of manufacturing work instructions
- Support engineering efforts to improve manufacturing, assembly, and process efficiency
- Perform basic mechanical and electronic assembly tasks as needed
- Assist with failure analysis activities and document manufacturing-related issues and observations
- Minimum of one year of college coursework as an Engineering major (Mechanical or related field preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly practices
- Familiarity with soldering, wiring, and crimping is a plus
- Working knowledge of hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with general software applications
