JOB DESCRIPTION CLASSIFICATION: CERTIFIED
JOB TITLE:
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER PAY RATE: $170/full day; $85/half day Job Goal:
The substitute classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree
- Arizona Department of Education issued Substitute PreK-12, or ADE issued Standard Teaching Certificate
- Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint clearance card
Job Functions:
- Serve to continue learning while the classroom teacher is absent, which meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students within the district curriculum
- Use effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives
- Monitor and assess student progress to provide feedback regularly to students and their classroom teacher
- Communicate aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior
- Implement reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner
- Provide each student with the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of personal-social adjustment, decision-making, positive self-image, and other life skills
- Promote and follow the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations, and administrative procedures
- Communicate concerns and ideas through appropriate channels in a positive, professional, and ethical manner
- Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
- Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor, and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other professional assignments
- Maintain accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce material and skills
- Use effective basic strategies for the management of behavior
- Have basic knowledge of computers, software, and applications
- Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District or school site
- Perform all related duties as directed in a safe and prudent manner
