Paraeducator Special Education

2 positions available.

Full‑Time, 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day.

• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)
• Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.)
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
• Completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
• Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
• Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
• Ability to supervise students.
• Ability to take direction.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance, including completing an assigned day.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical tasks, data functions, people functions, toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior; must be physically working in the building.

$20.00‑$25.30 per hour (DOQ with K‑12 experience)

$21.15‑$26.45 per hour (AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience)

$22.00‑$27.30 per hour (BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience)

Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour.

Insurance benefits are available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.

Paraeducators assigned to positions of six (6) or more hours per day who are hired on or after March 9, 2026, will become eligible for insurance benefits at the start of the 2026‑27 school year.
