Position Summary
Join to apply for the Para educator Special Education role at Anoka-Hennepin School District. 2 positions available. Full‑time: 184 days, 6.5 hours per day.
Start date:
ASAP.
- Manage behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
- Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Manage physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
- Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center‑based settings.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
- Ability to supervise students.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds; perform physical tasks such as toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, implementing a behavioral management program and maintaining student data.
$20.00/hour to $25.30/hour DOQ with K–12 experience; $21.15/hour to $26.45/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits (DOQ with K–12 experience); $22.00/hour to $27.30/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution (DOQ with K–12 experience).
Special Education Paras serving center‑based students or classrooms 50% or more of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Education Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
