GENERAL FUNCTIONThis position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, health living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Water slide Attendant ensures the safety of all children using the water slide at the Stephens Family YMCA.
KNOW-HOWQualified applicants must:
- Be a minimum of 15 years of age
- Demonstrate maturity
- Have afternoon, night and weekend availability
- Display confidence when managing children
- Have adequate vision and hearing to effectively see and hear distress signs
- Possess or obtain as part of employment First Aid and CPR/AED certification
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Stand, walk, and move in and around the pool deck and water slide area
- Properly hear and use the walkie-talkie for operations and safety needs
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere on deck, alert to safety needs and cues from participants
- Observe participants for proper rule enforcement
- Lift and move aquatic equipment as needed
- Supervise all children using the water slide
- Make sound judgements in emergency situations and when enforcing rules regarding the use of the water slide
- Develop and maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, including completion of proper documentation
- Help Aquatics staff keep the pool area safe, clean and neat in appearance
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, volunteers, members or program participants and colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
