We are seeking a skilled platform architect to define and implement the next generation of Yahoo Finance's cloud architecture, including our newest AI platforms.

We expect you to be hands‑on, actively coding with deep expertise in platform architecture, backend systems, cloud‑native solutions, database systems, caching, real‑time data, as well as ML and AI platforms. You will report to the head of engineering and act as a trusted advisor along with architects in other technical areas.

As a key member of the YFinance Engineering organization, you will leverage your knowledge, experience, and skills with the latest cloud technologies and ever‑evolving AI space to guide squads with technology choices. You will help complete proofs of concept to illustrate approaches that teams can take. You will improve productivity of squads building consumer‑facing experiences through smart design that allows self‑service wherever possible.

• Drive strong technical alignment across all platforms at Yahoo Finance
• Define the architectural direction for platforms and advocate to platform teams
• Empower as much self‑service as possible across our platforms, allowing full‑stack teams to iterate and contribute independently
• Be an advocate for YF's platform direction within the broader Yahoo engineering organization
• Work with AI architects and researchers on the best application platform solutions to deliver state‑of‑the‑art AI products and features
• Work with production engineering and leadership to ensure the most cost‑effective cloud solutions
• Collaborate with the quality engineering group to define platform QA standards
• Reduce time to onboard new engineers
• Establish idiomatic and self‑documenting platform solutions that align to YF standards
• Build partnerships with other platform architects around the organization
• Participate in architectural reviews and establish standards for architecture design

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 12+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong emphasis on building scalable, cloud‑native platform applications
• Proficiency in designing serverless cloud‑native solutions using AWS technologies such as Lambdas
• Proficiency working with containerized workloads
• Proficiency working with both real‑time and static data systems
• Experience working with a variety of database systems, including traditional relational databases, document stores, in‑memory databases and cloud‑native solutions like MemoryDB
• Experience optimizing performance, latency, cost
• Preference for experience in an agent orchestration framework such as AWS Bedrock, GCP Agentspace, Langchain
