Intertek's Food Services protects our client's brands and reputation with a better food supply chain, from the farm to fork. With the food industry increasingly subject to scrutiny, testing to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and to protect public health is a must.
Responsibilities- Plans, performs and completes projects under direct supervision
- Demonstrates proficiency in setting up, adjusting, operating and calibrating laboratory equipment and instruments - may include some of the following, but not limited to the following:
- Independently performs lab tests to determine physical and chemical characteristics
- Performs data analysis
- May begin doing some technical assessment
- Knowledgeable in use of data acquisition software and instrument operating software (e.g. Turbochrom, Cerity, Win Lab)
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures and regulations
- Works under general supervision
- Primary job functions require a certain degree of independence and judgement
- Relies on limited experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned

Qualifications- BA/BS Chemistry, Biology or related scientific degree required
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry
- Knowledge of HPLC operation
- 2+ years of related industry experience in an analytical laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals and materials
- Organization, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical and business information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, clients, and vendors
- Intermediate mathematical skills, including algebraic functions, statistics (mean, median, standard deviation, variance, probability), basic geometry (area, volume calculations), and scientific calculators
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to work varied and extended hours/days, as business dictates
The base wage or salary range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
