Quality Assistant Manager

Summary of Position

Reviews manufacturing instructions or procedures for completeness, correctness, and comprehension by production/assembly workers. Audits processes performed by workers relative to methods, tools, ability to follow manufacturing instructions. May determine frequency and allowable variations from specifications at various stages of the manufacturing process. Investigates and recommends alternatives to product designs or manufacturing methods to ensure quality. May generate inspection plans, reporting formats, or performance indicators for specific process areas.

• Can create and manage a PPAP process/package
• Develop and implement quality control plan/systems from scratch
• Responsible for inspections according to the quality management system / control plans / agreements with customers
• Take corrective action if the customer’s agreed quality aims can’t be met
• Responsible for the execution of the product audit, short audits, and the process audit
• Execute process and system audits
• Make decisions regarding the inspection status according to the quality management system
• Responsible for data administration and archiving of quality documents, samples and measurement instruments
• Determine preventive measurements to assure quality with production, managements and project teams
• Responsible for TS 16949 certification and process
• Work on cross-functional team through a PFMEA review and create/finalize the PFMEA
• Perform/initiate capability studies and be able to interpret the results
• Fill out PSW/AAR forms
• Interface with CMM operators on how to measure the components and assemblies and fill out the proper dimensional PPAP forms
• Understand the customer requirements for testing and be able to interpret and fill out the proper PPAP forms
• Initiate GR&R/MSA studies and be able to interpret the results
• Understand plastic processes and be able to create work instructions and possibly process flow diagrams
• Interface with customers’ Quality Engineers with questions/issues and obtain resolution
• Read customer drawings and interpret them
• Understand GD&T and be able to interpret CMM reports
• Create GD&T schemes based on part functions and interface those ideas with the customer
• Understand gauges and use the created GD&T schemes to build them
• Interface with the customer to get gauge concepts and designs approved
• Interface with gauge builders to create gauge and follow up on them through build and completion
• Review parts and make determinations if they are acceptable by meeting the quality standards created
• Visit customers for color and harmony meetings
• Read colorimeter results
• Analyze quality control to detect production problems
• Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, and statistical studies
