EJP is seeking dynamic, organized, and results-driven individuals to join our Data Stewardship Team. Team members are responsible for creating and maintaining EJP databases and dashboards, as well as supporting other tasks related to recording, managing, and analysing quantitative data connected to our work. This position is based on campus and does not require prison clearance. All work is conducted virtually.

Position Requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Tableau, including dashboard design and data visualization best practices
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, particularly in developing models to support searchable database systems and data retrieval optimization.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Experience collecting, cleaning, processing, and filtering datasets from multiple sources
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to understand stakeholder requirements and translate them into reporting solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present data clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Commitment to social justice
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, reporting, and relational database management
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, and data pipeline development
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce reporting, data structures, and CRM analytics
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Big Query for web data extraction, transformation, and analysis
  • Strong web analytics expertise, including traffic analysis, user behaviour tracking, and conversion monitoring
  • Marketing analytics experience using web-based tools (e.g., Tag Manager, SEO tools, campaign tracking platforms)
Examples of Responsibilities Shared Among Team Members
  • Develop and maintain data visualizations and dashboards based on financial and quantitative datasets
  • Analyse data to generate actionable insights and support data-informed decision-making across EJP
  • Translate analytical findings into clear explanations to help team members better understand program performance and impact
  • Identify opportunities to improve ongoing processes and propose data-driven solutions
  • Summarize data and run reports as needed to support operational and strategic needs
  • Maintain and validate existing (legacy) dashboards to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Document data processes, workflows, and reporting structures to support knowledge transfer and continuity
  • Create user guides and training materials for EJP databases and reporting systems
  • Train interns and team members on dashboards and reporting tools
All team members are required to:
  • Attend weekly team meetings, currently on Monday at 3:45 pm, but this is likely to change in Fall 2026.
  • Strive to become engaged in the EJP community.

Team members typically work approximately 15 hours per week, depending on project needs. It’s possible not to work in a given week and to put in extra hours the following week. In other words, the position offers flexibility to accommodate a person’s schedule.

While not required, candidates who are able and interested in continuing through the summer term may be given preference.

Although this is primarily a technical role, all EJP team members are encouraged to engage with the broader EJP community and take advantage of opportunities to learn about issues related to criminal justice and incarceration.

Compensation

Starts at $31.03/hr for Master's students and $32.27/hr for PhD students. This job is especially well suited for a grad student, but others are welcome to apply as well.
