Overview
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) – Float Team – Carle Health, Champaign, IL. Seeking highly motivated individual to support multiple areas within ambulatory clinic. Responsible for routine administrative and patient care support duties, assist clinical staff, ensure office runs smoothly.
Responsibilities- Rooming patients – collect chief complaint, histories, medication reconciliation at arrival.
- Telephone interactions – complete required communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and other facilities.
- Administrative tasks – patient check‑in/out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, benefit verification, referral and testing coordination, office procedures.
- Procedures – urine catheterization, bladder scanning, suture or staple removal, cast removal or application, reading results of negative TB skin tests, directing patient to department nurse when indeterminate results.
- Pv – provide written instructions regarding procedures, medications, follow‑up at provider direction.
- CMA staff – retrieve and provide condition‑specific education from internet, internal website, or printed materials per provider orders.
- Med administration – per provider order, prescription refill assistance, pharmacy medication call, EMR documentation.
- Maintain point‑of‑care testing, equipment handling, specialty training competencies.
- React to frequent changes in duties and volume of work. Effective oral and written communication, respectful treatment of all colleagues, knowledge of medical terminology, reliable transportation.
- Float staff required to perform all department‑specific job functions within scope of role.
- Medication reconciliation, injections, medication refill request, point‑of‑care testing, lab specimen processing, prior authorizations, clear coverage for HAMP as needed. May work weekends/holidays and support pop‑up/temporary departments.
- Certification:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – AAMA, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – AMT, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – NAHP, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – NHA, Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA. Must hold current certification within past 30 days. - Education:
High School diploma or GED. - Experience:
Prior experience as medical assistant in ambulatory or clinic setting. Demonstrated ability to perform administrative and patient care duties, medication administration, point‑of‑care testing, and procedural support. - Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology, effective oral and written communication, reliable transportation. - Other:
Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work, commitment to respectful treatment of all colleagues.
