PAY RATE: $15.53 - $19.18 Hourly

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division provides these services to people in need.
Responsible for aiding the supervision and direction of the educational, recreational, and developmental programs at The Salvation Army Youth Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist in the overall administrative components of the Youth Center, including routine typing work, attending events to promote the program to the community, filing forms, letters and correspondence with parents/registrants, preparing materials for classes, programs, electives, etc., assisting Youth Ministries Director with program duties, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist in the overall operation of the Youth Center, including supervision of after school participants in scheduled daily activities (completion of homework assignments, tutoring in math and reading, crafts, and computer stations), assisting with room preparations, scheduling activities, meal preparation and clean-up, recreation activities, supervising arrival and departure of program participants, transporting participants to and from the building, camp, field trips, etc.,
assisting in preparation of visits by visiting teachers or special guests, and assisting in statistics, daily, weekly, and monthly reporting. - Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual students: learn to know the needs of each individual and help each individual experience success; help each student meet and exceed personal learning and achievement goals; correspond respectfully with participant parents/guardians as needed; follow Safe from Harm Guidelines closely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Successfully satisfy the training requirements associated to the position and as required by The Salvation Army.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Significant experience may be considered in lieu of.
ExperienceCandidates must have a passion to work with school age children and be willing to demonstrate moral principles and leadership qualities. One to two years of experience working with youth is preferred. Must be a minimum of 18 years old to work with youth, 21 to drive company vehicles.
Skills/Abilities- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.
- Close attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task several projects concurrently.
- Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
- Ability to establish and implement policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated awareness of budget resources and cost control, as well as planning and administering budgets.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including demonstrated experience in using email, MS Office applications.
- This individual will only commit resources of The Salvation Army that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position. The individual will keep the designated Supervisor informed of all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This position may be required to do light to moderate physical work. Sometimes heavier.
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment including a PC and potentially make public presentations/interactions.
- The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low to moderate noise level.
