Overview
The Site Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the center and meeting the Head Start Performance Standards, Public Health Regulations, and DCFS Licensing Standards. The role provides vision and leadership to education staff in creating a positive learning environment where Head Start children gain the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that lead to future school success. The Site Manager also supports teachers and assistant teachers to become exceptional early childhood educators by engaging in their professional development, modeling effective teaching practices, and implementing agency policies and procedures.
The site must be supportive, welcoming, and safe for staff, families, and children.
- Lead day-to-day center operations to ensure compliance with Head Start standards and licensing requirements.
- Provide vision and leadership to education staff and foster a positive learning environment.
- Support teachers and assistant teachers in professional development and effective teaching practices.
- Model professional behavior and implement agency policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for staff, families, and children.
- Bachelor2 ts Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with coursework in early childhood education and early education teaching experience.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
- Education in Business Administration is preferred and will be given preference.
- CLASS observer certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Head Start and other agency rules and regulations.
- Experience with recruitment, staffing, and operations management is preferred.
- Prior direct supervision experience with teams of 20-30 people.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills (oral and written).
- Proficiency with common office software (word processing, email, internet, spreadsheets, databases) and ability to learn web-based systems.
- Ability to learn Head Start and other agency rules within three months.
- Experience with at-risk populations and ability to work with families, staff, and community agencies.
- Respect for confidentiality and the principles of equal employment opportunities and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Previous experience with recruitment, staffing, and operations management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.

Full-Time/Year-Round
Hours:
7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., M-F
Starting Wage: $35.66
