POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Manager will manage his/ her crew(s) for ship loading/discharge. The Production Manager will be responsible for the transloading of Bulk, Break Bulk, General Cargoes, and Project loads.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Works closely with the vessel’s Chief, Port Captains, Surveyors, Fleet Dispatch, and Logistics to discuss and adjust the transloading plan and activities.
  • Coordinates with Surveyors, Port Captains, Fleets and Customers in transloading operation.
  • Delegates and assigns crew(s) as necessary for operations to meet operational demand.
  • Review Stow Plans with the Operations Management group to ensure the successful transloading of cargoes as per the customers’ request.
  • Executes plans as assigned for transloading of ship.
  • Ensures Gearman has properly staged equipment, tools, etc. for work to be conducted.
  • Prior to transloading, inspect the vessel and vessel’s equipment and tools, keeping a photo log of work, cargo, barges and damage. Report damages to management and document accordingly.
  • Once the vessel is discharged, ensure accuracy of daily log, tally, and photo log.
  • Work with Operations Manager/Assistant Operations Manager to ensure efficient and productive scheduling of the crew and the availability of required equipment.
  • Proficient with rigging and able to train/ supervise crew on proper rigging technique and transfer of cargo and equipment.
  • Review Prevention of Accident Form with vessel Chief to ensure understanding and obtain signature.
  • Communicate with Logistics team as required, reporting status of job progression and coordinate logistical needs.
  • Communicate with the Foreman and CIC’s as necessary.
  • Maintain logs and provide shift updates to management.
  • Direct and monitor crew in conducting preventive maintenance to assigned equipment.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and the ability to direct crew with preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, company procedures, company handbook, laws and regulations to ensure the efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and conduct effective and accurate operations.
  • Enforce Company Safety policies and procedures for all activities aboard the assigned vessel and report any concerns to the Stevedoring Operations Manager.
  • Work closely with Safety Department to ensure all crew members receive required HSE training.
  • Conduct/lead incident investigations, complete incident reports and safeguard the overall safety of the crew members.
  • Conduct Safety Meeting with crew.
  • Report ALL incidents through company’s reporting protocol.
  • Support company safety initiatives.
  • Demonstration of knowledge of all required competencies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience coordinating the logistics of transloading a vessel/ managing multiple crews.
  • Must have experience with Break Bulk, General Cargoes, Bulk, and Project Cargoes.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High school or equivalent required. Equipment certification may be required. Crane certification may be required.
SKILL/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform applicable operation activities.
  • Ability to administer operational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop / analyze applicable operation reports.
  • Ability to work in a team environment inclusive of other managers and supervisors.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve operation problems.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including holidays, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • PC skills;
    Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); and other applicable applications is preferred.
  • Must possess strong communication skills (verbal and written) to provide and receive direction.
  • Must be able to read/write/communicate in English.
  • Able to use basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of all heavy lift cargoes, bulk cargoes, general cargoes, and break-bulk commodities.
