Position: Custodian II @jh 26-27 **IN-DISTRICT ONLY**

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Keeps assigned buildings and associated areas clean and orderly. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organizes, directs, monitors, and provides training for the work of Custodians I, Grounds Keeper and student help.
2. Performs, plans and directs cleaning, gardening, and minor maintenance work at an assigned site.
3. Makes minor repairs and reports or performs needed major repairs.
4. Open and/or close the buildings, including lights, heating, air conditioning, security, raising and lowering flag.
5. Directs and assists in moving, arranging and setting up furniture and equipment for special events, meetings, and athletic events.
6. Orders and maintains inventory of appropriate supplies and equipment.
7. Makes routine security checks observing assigned areas and reporting vandalism or other problems.
8. Waters and maintain the lawns, landscaping and school grounds as necessary.
9. Moves equipment and supplies within the job site. 10. Follows general safety and hazardous materials procedures. 11. Clean swimming pool and maintain water chemistry and related equipment as necessary. 12. Does related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:
General methods of maintenance and cleaning procedures, use of cleaning materials and yard care; the danger of hazardous materials; appropriate action to prevent injury to self and others. Ability to:
Use equipment common to the custodial and groundskeeping function; work independently to complete tasks; follow a schedule; communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English; follow general safety and hazardous materials procedures.

Experience:

At least two (2) years of experience in performing custodial, groundskeeping and/or maintenance functions, preferably in a school setting. Experience in directing the work of others.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Supervision:
Under general supervision, reports to the site administrator. May receive training and technical assistance from Custodian III and technical assistance from Director of Maintenance. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
