Role Purpose
As the Regulatory and Compliance Manager for Sanulac Africa, you will be responsible for ensuring that our organisation complies with all relevant regulatory requirements & legislation, industry standards and business compliance requirements. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and enhancing compliance with specialized food regulations, food safety, quality standards, and legal obligations.
Regulatory Compliance- Stay up to date with local and international food safety regulations, industry standards, and legislative changes that impact the food industry in the markets we operate in
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including but not limited to food safety, quality control, labelling, import/export requirements, and advertising.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify any non‑compliance issues and develop strategies to address them effectively.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all processes, practices, and products meet regulatory requirements for local and exported products.
- Engage and lobby with regulatory authorities to facilitate new markets and existing product registration and compliance.
- Collaborate with agents, and external stakeholders to ensure in‑country regulatory compliance.
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate changes and updates to relevant departments within the organization.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and external auditors.
- Assist in securing release of finished product and raw materials withheld at customs.
- Define regulatory requirements for destination countries during new product development and conduct risk assessments for innovation/renovation projects.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in regulatory compliance and quality management and share knowledge with relevant stakeholders
- Investigate and address customer complaints and non‑conformance issues related to quality and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify areas for continuous improvement in quality processes and systems to reduce non‑quality
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance quality awareness and compliance within the organization from regulatory aspects
- Artwork and labelling compliance and approvals in collaboration with R&D and Marketing teams
- Assess the criticality of consumer complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Lead communication and management of Sensitive Incident (SI) with the factory and central quality team.
- Oversee careline training, including procedure formalization, standard responses, and skills monitoring.
- Ensure application of group procedures across all processes.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions based on data analysis.
- Coordinate with the factory for root cause analysis and action plans.
- Manage the call center team, resources and budget.
- Ensure full traceability and root cause analysis during incidents.
- Liaise with relevant authorities in case of product‑related issues.
- Set up and manage call center overflow during crisis situations.
- Organize mock recalls to test and improve crisis preparedness.
- Establish and maintain an organized and accurate documentation system for all regulatory and compliance‑related activities.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping of compliance documentation, including permits, licenses, certifications, and inspection reports.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions related to regulatory and compliance activities.
- Develop and maintain specifications:
Product Specification documentation, Raw material specifications, finished product specifications. - Ensure that all necessary documentation is readily accessible and available for internal and external audits.
