Tax Attorney

Unicus Tax Specialists SA is a tax-exclusive advisory firm. Tax is not a support service to other offerings — it is our sole focus. We advise on complex tax matters across advisory, disputes, and litigation.

We are looking for a driven and intellectually curious attorney with at least 3 years post-admission experience who wants to build a specialised career in tax. No prior tax experience is required — what matters most is strong analytical ability, excellent writing skills, and a genuine interest in developing deep expertise in tax law.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex tax matters and develop within the advisory and controversy side of tax under the mentorship of industry expert Nico Theron.

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Minimum 3 years post-admission experience
• Experience in general litigation will be advantageous
• No prior tax experience required

Work will primarily involve advising corporates and individuals carrying on business across various tax types, including:

• Drafting and submission of objections, appeals and other tax dispute‑related documents
• Drafting of tax opinions
• Drafting and submission of Voluntary Disclosure Programme (VDP) applications
• Drafting and submission of Advance Tax Ruling applications
• Performing complex tax calculations (for purposes of VDPs, opinions or disputes – not routine tax return preparation)
