Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Our client, is a specialised, privately held engineering group, with a global mining footprint. They focus on fast-tracked design and construction of minerals processing plants. They specialise in delivering projects in developing countries and Tier-1 jurisdictions.

Their cross-disciplinary team of geologists, mining engineers, and process engineers collaboratively focuses on assessing an orebody, maximising deposit value, all while prioritising risk minimisation.

As part of this dynamic team, you will assure that all financial recordkeeping duties are done on time which might but is not limited include bookkeeping, accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting up to trail balance for a dedicated area.

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
• At least 5 years' experience
• Post article accounting or financial management
• Computer literacy
• Local and International taxation
• International finances including transfer pricing
• Project costing and cost control

• Accounts Payable
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end accounts payable function.
  • Reconcile the supplier.
  • Manage exceptions on accounts payable issues with suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT Act.
• Accounts Receivable
  • Raising customer invoices.
  • Sending out customer statements.
  • Reconcile customer payments.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and escalating where necessary.
• Month End Procedures
  • Contribute to the preparation of management reports.
  • Monthly recon of inventory, payroll, fixed assets, suppliers, customers, VAT, and taxes accounts.
• Expense Analysis
  • Analyse month to month variances
  • Analyse budget to actual
  • Working side by side with the Cost Controller to provide support to the project team.
• Compliance
  • Ensure all relevant compliance reporting and submission is done on time.
• Team Management
  • Develop and manage the finance team to ensure they are equipped to deliver on team objectives.
  • Set team targets and monitor performance against those targets.
  • Drive department hiring, training and performance management and day to day HR matters.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to ensure their professional development.
• Reporting
  • Ensure reporting is done accurately and timeously as per business requirements.
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecast reporting.
• Ad Hoc
  • Any ad hoc duties as required from time to time
  • Assist with annual / bi-annual stock taking.
  • Assist with the preparation for audits.
