Position: Financial Accountant (Biological Assets and General Ledger) - Rainbow Chicken

The Financial Accountant role is an essential role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting in cash management and working capital processes, maintaining the general ledger and providing crucial support to the finance team. This role demands a high level of expertise in IFRS accounting principles, Microsoft Excel proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills.

Requirements
  • Accounting Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance role or CA(SA) with a minimum of 1 year post articles experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance role
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Advantageous to have experience with SAP
  • Advantageous to have knowledge of the poultry industry.

Key Responsibilities Biological Assets
  • Preparation of calculations for monthly biological asset valuation rates.
  • Co-ordination of review of the calculated rates with the regional commercial executives.
  • Preparation of a monthly summary for the biological assets on hand.
  • Preparation of biological asset information (including sensitivity analysis) for the annual financial statements.
  • Preparation of bi-annual biological assets fair value calculations.
General Ledger Maintenance
  • Preparation of month-end accrual journal entries for the central finance function.
  • Review of intercompany loan accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monthly preparation of general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Revaluation of foreign vendor and customer accounts for month end reporting.
  • Review the accuracy of the foreign exchange gains/losses general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure the timely clearing of foreign vendor balances.
  • Preparation of intercompany loan confirmations.
  • Participate actively in the year-end financial reporting process and liaise with internal and external audit teams.
  • Work closely with the regional teams to gather the required information for reporting.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for streamlining financial reporting processes.
  • Remain updated on changes to IFRS standards and best practices.
General Responsibilities
  • Provide GL analysis support to commercial teams
  • Safeguard records and ensure reliable data management.
  • Share pertinent data with management for informed business decision-making.
  • Provide support to the finance manager on ad-hoc tasks.
