Financial Officer

Role Overview

The Financial Officer / Accountant in this manufacturing business manages daily finances using Pastel, maintains accurate records, prepares monthly reports, monitors cash flow and budgets, ensures tax and compliance obligations are met, and provides the CEO with financial insights to support decision‑making and improve profitability. The role requires extensive experience with Pastel Accounting. The financial officer reports directly to the CEO.

• Financial Management or Accounting experience in manufacturing
• Experience preparing management accounts, reconciliations, costings, and audit packs
• BI reporting experience advantageous

• Prepare financial records up to Trial Balance
• Compile Consolidated Management Accounts
• Prepare and post monthly journals and provisions
• Maintain and update pricing structures in Pastel
• Prepare and control budgets
• Payroll

• Bank Reconciliations
• Stock Reconciliations
• Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) Reconciliations
• VAT Reconciliations
• Other balance sheet reconciliations

• Prepare VAT calculations and submit VAT 201 returns
• Manage EMP 501 reconciliations

• Work out costings for special fabrications
• Support the Production function in setting up and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM's)

• Prepare periodic financial and operational reports for the CEO

• Manage and prepare for annual external audits
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards

• Matric (With Exemption)
• Strong Pastel Accounting experience
• Advanced MS Excel skills

• Postgraduate degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or CIMA.

• Strong analytical and numerical ability
