Lecturer – Mathematics Foundation Phase

Please note that this appointment is a part-time, fixed-term contract valid until 30 June 2026. This position does not constitute a full-time appointment.

• Lecture and assess contact learning in the BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) programme in the following modules:
• Mathematics for Foundation Phase 1
• Mathematics for Foundation Phase 2
• Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
• Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
• Provide academic support to students.
• Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
• Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
• Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
• Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
• Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.

• Minimum Bachelor of Education Honours degree (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) with relevant study in Foundation Phase Education, Early Childhood Development, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ teaching and/or lecturing experience in Foundation Phase Mathematics, Early Childhood Development mathematics, or Mathematics Education, with demonstrated experience in teaching the pedagogy of mathematics.
• Experience in higher education teaching and/or module coordination will be an advantage
• Experience in curriculum and materials development.
• Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.

• Sound teaching and assessment skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
• High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
