Patient Care
:
Responsible for practicing safely within the defined standards of practice.

• Records and relays patient information, symptoms, and concerns to the patient s medical provider or registered nurse for further triage assessment and to determine a plan of care
• Assist patients with therapeutic regimens
• Reinforces established plans of care and age-appropriate interventions
• Reinforces patient/family teaching plan based on identified health education needs and the condition and age of the patient through approved educational materials or written instructions
• Administer tasks, treatments, and medications in accordance with validated competencies

Communication
:
Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, medical providers and all levels of healthcare.

• Conveys information accurately to physicians, nurses, and other team members, as well as listen and respond to the needs and concerns of patients and colleagues
• Utilizes appropriate communication tools when communicating within the interdisciplinary team
• Documents patient information in EHR

Teamwork
:
Willing to share responsibilities, support their teammates, and work together to achieve common goals.

• Organizes and prioritizes daily work assignments to support patient needs, the interdisciplinary team, and operational efficiency
• Demonstrates teamwork in the delivery of patient care. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues

Nursing Practice
:
Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia

• Engages in professional development activities to stay current with advancements and best practices in ambulatory care
• Possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
• Contributes to the development of practice guiding resources (policies, procedures, guidelines, protocol orders, etc.)

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinic setting required. Demonstration of leadership, training, and process improvement preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding.

Additional Skills/Requirements

Required:

AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required. Ability to successfully complete general and department role based specific skills validation and competency testing.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Leadership development.
