About the Role
Assistant General Counsel, Privacy, Data & AI – Mobility. The role reports to the Associate General Counsel, Corporate & Securities and supports a global business of $1.8 billion in revenue and 3,500 employees worldwide.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic privacy, AI and data protection advice across the organization, translating complex regulations into actionable, scalable solutions.
- Lead the development and evolution of the global privacy strategy and governance framework, monitoring emerging regulations and influencing product and commercial initiatives.
- Advise product, engineering, and business teams on privacy implications of new and existing products, including data minimization, transparency, consent, AI requirements and third‑party integrations.
- Support incident response efforts, advising on investigations involving potential cyber and data incidents, breach notification obligations and regulatory exposure.
- Design and maintain global privacy program initiatives, policies, procedures, templates and playbooks, collaborating with the Compliance team where applicable.
- Provide legal support for drafting, reviewing and negotiating privacy and data security provisions in commercial agreements, data processing agreements and addenda, developing efficient standards and templates.
- Engage with privacy regulators, supervisory authorities and outside counsel across jurisdictions, synthesizing advice into clear, actionable recommendations for the business.
- Deliver effective privacy training and communications, promoting a strong culture of privacy awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
- 10+ years of relevant privacy and data protection experience, with a primary focus on privacy and data protection gained at law firm and in‑house (publicly traded company).
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (or equivalent foreign qualification).
- Deep expertise in global privacy and data protection laws and frameworks, including GDPR, UK GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA) and other international regimes.
- Extensive experience leading global privacy programs and managing complex, cross‑border privacy and data issues.
- Demonstrated experience advising on AI governance and emerging AI regulations, or strong interest and ability to rapidly develop expertise in this area.
- Proven capability to manage high‑volume, complex environments with sound judgment, adaptability and strong business judgment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for the business and the ability to provide concise and creative solutions on established timelines.
- Collaborative team player who operates autonomously while fostering a positive, can‑do attitude.
- Privacy or AI certifications.
- Experience supporting data‑intensive environments, data/technology‑driven products, digital platforms or AI‑enabled services.
- Experience with change management and transformation initiatives in high‑growth environments.
