The OpportunityWe are looking for a versatile Software Engineer to join a high-impact feature team within a major Strategic Transformation Programme
. This is a mission-critical initiative focused on modernising core platforms, services, and operating models for a leading Financial Services institution.
This role is unique: it begins as a day-rate contract to support immediate delivery, with a guaranteed path toward a permanent position
. It is the ideal move for a consultant looking for long-term stability or a permanent developer looking to "test-drive" a major modernisation project before committing.
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will design and improve software that delivers business-critical capabilities for both customers and internal colleagues. You will work closely with stakeholders—including non technical senior individuals—to solve complex problems and contribute to the firm's growth.
Key Accountabilities:- Full Stack Development: Design and develop scalable backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and modern frontend components (Angular/React).
- Cloud & Dev Ops: Deploy and maintain secure, performant code within AWS
, implementing CI/CD pipelines with a test-first mindset. - Collaboration: Participate in Agile ceremonies, peer reviews, and cross-functional solution design.
- Engineering Excellence: Promote code quality, security best practices, and knowledge sharing within internal tech communities.
- Backend: Strong proficiency in Java 17+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices.
- Frontend:
Experience with
Angular (with an interest in React/Type Script for future work streams). - Data: Solid SQL skills (Postgre
SQL, MSSQL) and exposure to No
SQL (Mongo
DB, Cassandra). - Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS
, Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka. - Tooling: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or Git Lab CI.
