Software Engineering Manager - UCX (Mobile)

Join Hargreaves Lansdown to lead the next‑generation Unified Client Experience mobile platform, streamlining onboarding, KYC, account management and investment workflows for millions of UK users.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leadership & People Management – Build, coach and grow an agile team of 5‑7 React Native engineers; manage hiring, onboarding, performance and career development; foster inclusive culture and psychological safety.
  • Technical Leadership & Delivery – Guide the design and delivery of green‑field iOS/Android apps in React Native; establish engineering standards, architecture principles and security compliance.
  • Platform & Integration – Integrate mobile apps with Graph

    QL back‑end services; collaborate with platform, backend and Dev Ops teams to ensure reliable deployments.
  • Ways of Working & Quality – Own the full agile lifecycle: backlog refinement, ceremonies, CI/CD pipelines, release management and feature‑flag strategy.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Partner with Product, Design and business stakeholders to translate strategy into technical solutions and communicate trade‑offs clearly.
About You
  • 10+ years of commercial mobile engineering (iOS/Android) with at least 4 years leading teams.
  • Expertise in React Native cross‑platform development, mobile SDLC best practices and architectural patterns.
  • Strong experience integrating REST/Graph

    QL APIs, managing app lifecycle, performance, release and compliance.
  • Hands‑on CI/CD pipeline design, automated testing and security scanning.
  • Proven mentor and coach, driving continuous learning and high‑performance culture.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and decision making in fast‑paced, regulated environments.
Interview Process

Three stages:

  • Discussion with Hiring Manager (30 min)
  • Technical Assessment – design problem with peers (70 min)
  • Final Architecture & Culture fit interview (60‑80 min)
