Overview
Enfield Youth Development Service, part of the Children and Families division of the Youth People and Community Safety Department, offers a part‑time role (18 hours per week) with a pro‑rata salary ranging from £14,335 to £15,481 per annum. The service works with children and young people aged 11‑19, and up to 25 with disabilities or learning difficulties, aiming to provide personal and social development opportunities that support the transition to adulthood and promote good citizenship.
Key Responsibilities- Provide detained, outreach, mentoring, advocacy, one‑to‑one, group and project work using a contextual safeguarding approach.
- Engage young people in a wide range of settings—including streets, parks, neighbourhoods, schools, and community venues—to encourage positive behaviour and safe decision‑making outside the home.
- Deliver bespoke interventions tailored to each young person’s needs and abilities to reduce engagement in risky behaviour and risk of harm.
- Collaborate with key professional agencies such as social workers, police, schools, PRUs, colleges, youth offending services, community safety and health services to share information and support safeguarding objectives.
- Support and challenge attitudes and actions towards unemployment, drugs, poverty, racism, sexism, disability, health, sexuality and criminality, and the influence of peer, parental and community pressure.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in accordance with service requirements.
