Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled Handyperson to join our Social Housing repairs and maintenance team in Canning Town, to work across a residential housing contract in East and South East London. This is a multi-trade role with opportunities to be involved in a variety of internal and external repairs.
Responsibilities- Internally you could be hanging doors, fitting skirting boards, undertaking plumbing repairs and minor electrical tasks, repairing walls, fitting kitchen cabinets, and laying vinyl flooring.
- Externally there could be masonry work on external walls or steps, laying slabs, erecting fences, glazing and replacing glass, gutter and gully clearance/cleaning and some roofing and guttering repairs which may require working at height on mobile platforms, ladders/access equipment.
- In addition you will be involved in lift inspections, fire door inspections, emergency lighting testing and water hygiene inspections.
- You will be provided with a company van and excellent training/development as part of this varied opportunity. Rydon is a well-established and fast-growing business with strong prospects for personal development.
- Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential; some carpentry experience would be ideal. This experience would ideally have been gained within the social housing/residential maintenance sector or with a contractor providing services to a housing association.
- You will have excellent customer service skills and be passionate about providing high-quality repairs/planned maintenance.
- This is a mobile position and therefore the successful candidate will need a full, valid UK Driving Licence.
