Overview
We are seeking to appoint a talented Research Associate to provide support for an industry-funded project to assess novel nutraceutical formulations. The postholder will work with Professor Mohammed Gulrez Zariwala, Professor Vinood Patel, Dr Rumy Begum and other external project partners. They will contribute to the day-to-day running of the research project, including participant scheduling, data collection, analysis and dissemination of relevant project outcomes.
They will be involved in an industry-funded project which aims to assess the ability of nutritional supplement products to regulate post-prandial glucose levels. A variety of research methods will be used to determine the efficacy of these supplements, including both biochemical and cellular assays.
The postholder will be part of the Centre for Nutraceuticals, within the School of Life Sciences. The Centre for Nutraceuticals is a global first-of-its-kind initiative in the area of nutraceuticals, supplements, and functional foods, acting as a catalyst for improving health and wellbeing guided by research, innovation and partnerships with sector-leading organisations.
The postholder will work in a dynamic environment within our state-of-the-art facilities in Central London, supported by a multidisciplinary team of colleagues.
ResponsibilitiesThe postholder will be expected to:
- Schedule participants, analyse biomarkers by immunoassays, conduct biochemical analysis, data collection, provide effective administrative and office support services; keep accurate records, maintain study documentation and input and analyse data using appropriate statistical packages, and prepare reports summarising the work.
- Other responsibilities as required by the project and supervisor.
- Candidates should possess a degree or equivalent in human nutrition, physiology or a related biomedical/ life sciences field. A relevant postgraduate qualification, experience, and an interest in the field of nutraceuticals, formulation design, and sports science will be an advantage.
- Candidates are expected to have good communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively within a team with shared aims and goals.
