About the department
One Welbeck Surgery Centre is a state-of-the-art private day surgery facility located in central London, close to the Harley Street medical area. The centre offers a modern, patient-focused approach to day surgery, supported by leading consultants across a wide range of specialities.
The Surgery Centre comprises three laminar flow operating theatres, twelve ensuite patient pods, and three step-up pods. It provides surgical services across orthopaedics, general surgery, colorectal, endoscopy, gynaecology, ENT, cardiac, respiratory, urology, OMFS, pain management, and other specialties.
The centre is part of an ambitious and growing organisation, with future plans for expansion both within the UK and internationally, offering excellent opportunities for professional development.
About the roleAs a Senior Scrub Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality perioperative care. Working collaboratively with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary theatre team, you will be responsible for preparing and managing the operating theatre environment to meet the needs of each patient and procedure.
Your role will include undertaking senior scrub duties in line with policies and best practice, maintaining aseptic technique, managing instruments and equipment, administering medications as requested, and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the surgical process. You will coordinate theatre activity, manage patient positioning and safety, and contribute to efficient patient flow and cost-effective use of resources.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will provide leadership within the theatre team, including supervising and supporting junior staff and assuming managerial accountability in the absence of the Theatre Coordinator, under the guidance of the Theatre Manager. You will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote a patient-centred approach at all times.
About youYou are a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or a Registered ODP with HCPC registration, with formal scrub training and at least one year of post-registration experience in a theatre setting. You hold a current BLS qualification (ILS desirable) and have experience supporting safe and effective intraoperative care across multiple surgical specialties.
