Senior Staff Nurse – PICU

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Staff Nurse for our Paediatric Intensive Care unit. As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patient care needs, developing holistic care plans, and promoting family-centred care. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members and be accountable for nursing management in a designated area.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse
• Coordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team
• Manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation
• Provide mentorship and support for student nurses
• Develop tailored care plans for patients in the designated clinical area

Requirements and Qualifications

• NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support
• Post-graduate experience in a PICU setting
• Understanding of Safeguarding issues
• Teaching and mentoring experience desirable
• Completion of a PICU Course equivalent to 60 credits
• Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
• Experience in supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable
