The appointee is to lead delivery of the UK & Ireland 2028 Tournament’s social impact partnership projects, using the power of football to inspire positive change and deliver tangible benefit in communities across the UK and Ireland.

Location: Wembley Stadium, London

Contract: Fixed term contract to start April 2026 until Summer 2028

The tournament

Contested every four years, the UEFA European Championship has been showcasing the continent’s top talent since its inception in 1960 and is the world’s third largest sporting event. UEFA EURO 2028 is taking place across the UK & Ireland where Europe's top 24 national teams will compete in a 31‑day, 51‑match tournament, attended by over 3 million spectators and with a global TV audience of upwards of 2 billion people.

As one of the world’s largest and highest‑profile sporting events, UEFA EURO 2028 will attract the attention of the sporting and major event communities, the media, and the public at large across the UK & Ireland, Europe and the World. With its unique hosting model, the event promises to spread the impacts and benefits of the tournament across the nations and communities of the UK and Ireland.

The organisation

UK & Ireland 2028 Limited has been set up as a new company to locally deliver several UEFA requirements for the tournament, working closely with UEFA, 9 Host Stadiums, 8 Host Cities and other key stakeholders.

The role

You will lead the delivery of the UK & Ireland 2028 Tournament’s social impact partnership projects, using the power of football to inspire positive change and deliver tangible benefit in communities across the UK and Ireland. The role focuses on driving participation inclusion, community cohesion and economic impact goals through leveraging the power of our unique, multi‑nation partnership – whilst supporting the tournament’s ambition to be at the core of society.

What will you be doing?
  • Lead delivery of the tournament’s Community Amplification Plan, oversee creative and agency partners to deliver a large‑scale communications campaign and associated activities across the UK and Ireland, including a far‑reaching schools programme.
  • Drive coordination of the partnership’s Community Collaboration Projects – lead on UK & Ireland contributions and work with government and football association partners to ensure successful delivery meeting impact, inclusion, and sustainability goals.
  • Lead planning of an ambitious, flagship social impact activation to be delivered in the months preceding the tournament to early 2027.
  • Lead Social Impact Working Group including overseeing UK&I 2028 secretariat duties completed by Impact & Sustainability Coordinator.
  • Support management of a wide‑range of tournament social impact stakeholders including UEFA, UEFA Foundation, government partners, football association partners, commercial partners, third sector funding partners, and suppliers.
  • Support development of partner social impact plans comprising National Plans governed by governments and football associations, and commercial partner social activations – ensure partner social impact delivery is in line with the UK&I 2028 impact framework.
  • Work with UEFA to implement a successful tournament innovation programme that is aligned to UK and Ireland’s impact and sustainability objectives, and contributes towards longer‑term legacy goals.
  • Support development and implementation of a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework for the social impact partnership projects.
    Champion sustainability integration across all tournament operations, influencing partners and internal teams to adopt responsible, inclusive and climate‑conscious practices.
What are we looking for?
  • Proven experience leading or delivering high‑profile social impact programmes, ideally within sport, major events, or social development sectors.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating complex programmes whilst retaining focus on the practical delivery of measurable outcomes.
