Salesforce specialist to advise on build - Volunteer
We're a busy London community centre seeking a Salesforce specialist to review and provide advice on our CRM build‑out, streamline our data processes, and create custom reports to support our programmes, fundraising and impact reporting.
What difference will you make?Accurate data is essential to how we plan, deliver and evaluate our work. As a small charity with limited staff capacity, improving our Salesforce system will have a major impact on both day‑to‑day operations and long‑term sustainability.
Your support will help us:- Strengthen our monitoring, evaluation and learning, ensuring we can clearly evidence our impact to funders, partners and trustees.
- Produce reliable reports that reduce staff time spent manually compiling data.
- Improve the experience for our community by enabling us to track attendance and outcomes more effectively and tailor support where needed.
- Build a system that can scale as our programmes, volunteer team and partnerships grow.
- Increase our fundraising capacity by providing high‑quality data for grant applications and corporate engagement.
In short, your contribution will enable our small team to focus more time on delivering programmes and supporting local residents, rather than wrestling with spreadsheets and workarounds. You will be helping a frontline community organisation become more efficient, resilient and evidence‑driven—ultimately supporting hundreds of people each year across Fitzrovia, Camden and Westminster.
What are we looking for?We are looking for a Salesforce specialist to play the role of critical friend. Ideally, you will have:
- Strong Salesforce administration experience, including configuring objects, fields, workflows, validation rules and page layouts.
- Experience creating custom reports and dashboards, and translating organisational needs into practical reporting solutions.
- An understanding of data structure and best practice, ideally within a small charity, community organisation or similar setting.
- Confidence reviewing an existing system, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Good communication skills, able to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language to non‑specialists.
- A collaborative, patient and solution‑focused approach, with the ability to work with a small, busy team.
You do not need experience of our specific programmes, but an interest in community work or social impact would be welcome. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is generous with their expertise and enjoys helping organisations get the most out of their data and systems.
What will you be doing?Fitzrovia Community Centre is a small but high‑impact charity supporting people of all ages across Camden and Westminster. We run a wide range of programmes—children and families, arts and wellbeing, digital inclusion, volunteer‑led activities and community events. As our work expands, so does our need for robust, reliable data.
We introduced Salesforce in late 2022 to strengthen how we track attendance, demographics, outcomes and volunteer involvement. While we have a good foundation in place, we now need specialist guidance to refine our system and ensure it fully meets our operational and reporting needs.
We are looking for an experienced Salesforce volunteer who can help us:
- Review our current set‑up and recommend improvements.
- Identify where we can streamline and automate processes where appropriate (attendance tracking, volunteer management, programme monitoring, etc.).
- Advise and upskill staff on the design and build custom reports and dashboards for internal use, trustees and funders.
- Support us to organise data more effectively, improve consistency and reduce duplication.
- Provide light‑touch advice on best practice, data architecture and future scalability.
This role would suit someone who enjoys problem‑solving and translating organisational needs into practical CRM solutions. You would work primarily with our Impact Officer, Director and Programme & Volunteer Manager, with occasional input from project leads who require specific reporting.
We are open to volunteers who can commit either to a short piece of advisory work (a review and recommendations) or a longer engagement to help implement agreed changes. We anticipate the role being fully remote, with flexible hours to suit your schedule. Even a small amount of specialist input will make a significant difference.
