Are you ready to take your governance career up a level, driving best practice at the heart of a respected, forward‑looking professional institution? The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is seeking a Senior Governance Manager to join our Governance Office and help set the gold standard for organisational governance.

In this pivotal position, you will work closely with the Head of Governance to provide strategic leadership and hands on experience, ensuring our governance processes and systems run smoothly, efficiently and are always ahead of the curve. You’ll support the delivery of consistently high‑quality service to senior stakeholders and play a key role in keeping our governance practices up to date with the latest trends, regulations and guidance.

Your remit will span a diverse range of responsibilities – from advising Council and Board Chairs, to integrating best practice guidance into all aspects of our governance operations. You’ll play a lead role in the appointment and election of Council, Board, and committee members, and contribute to the ongoing development of our governance leaders through tailored induction and training.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll work closely with senior executives, Board and Council members, building relationships rooted in credibility and mutual respect. You’ll also play a central role in supporting the governance of ICAEW subsidiaries, collaborating with external advisors, and ensuring the highest standards of transparency and accountability.

We’re looking for someone with deep board‑level governance experience, ideally supported by a professional qualification from the Chartered Governance Institute. Your technical expertise will be complemented by sound judgement, analytical prowess, and a practical, outcomes‑focused approach. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, so you’ll need to be a strong team player and an excellent communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and constructively challenging when needed.
