Position: We Elevate... Quality of urban life Service Technician
Location: City of Westminster

Job Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine servicing of lift and escalator equipment, including minor repairs and routine replacement of components, in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+, etc.).
  • Rectifying and reducing faults on lift and escalator equipment in cases of breakdown, and confirming correct functioning after repairs.
  • Performing maintenance checks on lift and escalator functions, including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies, using approved company‑issued tools and protective equipment.
  • Conducting routine inspection and adjustment of lift and escalator equipment in line with approved procedures.
  • Reinstating lift and escalator equipment and completing service documentation.
  • Carrying out advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals, and appropriate test equipment to restore equipment to service. Competence in using written or graphical information is required.
  • Conducting site surveys and attending all relevant training sessions to keep up to date with technical knowledge and skills.
  • Working in accordance with the company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety standards, while setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contributing to company safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring current safety systems under your direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to the safety management system.
  • Working independently with a flexible approach and maintaining operational efficiencies under pressure.
  • Providing good communication skills at all levels (clients, service leaders, inspectors).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in lift and/or escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs (preferred).
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 minimum in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi‑brand equipment.
  • Advanced fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Manual dexterity – requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting, operation of various hand and power tools, and recording written information.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving licence.
