The business is strengthening its research and development capability and is seeking an experienced and highly numerate Technical Project Manager to take ownership of key technical initiatives and help shape the future direction of the company. The ideal candidate will have circa 5 years experience in software development and then have transitioned into Technical Project management.

As Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving multiple technical projects forward, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, on time, and in line with business objectives.

You will be responsible for coordinating teams, managing priorities, and developing clear project roadmaps, while adapting to changing requirements in a rapidly evolving environment.

• Oversee and track progress across multiple technical projects, ensuring objectives are met
• Prioritise workloads effectively and adapt plans as business needs evolve
• Develop, maintain, and communicate project roadmaps aligned to strategic goals
• Ensure efficient use of resources to maximise productivity and delivery outcomes
• Implement and refine project processes to improve performance and workflow
• Identify potential risks and opportunities, applying sound business judgement
• Provide structure and direction to technical teams, keeping projects focused
• Review and optimise workflows, tools, and resource allocation on an ongoing basis
• Produce clear documentation and regular progress reports for stakeholders
• Champion high standards of quality and continuous improvement

• 5+ years’ experience in a Technical Project Manager role, managing complex technical projects
• Proven experience working closely with engineering and development teams and managing their projects
• Previous background as a software developer or engineer, with strong technical understanding
• Degree-level education (BSc or equivalent) in a technical, engineering, or related discipline
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor colleagues
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Solid understanding of IT software systems and infrastructure
• Database knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar)
• Experience with version control systems such as Git, Plastic
  
  SCM, or Hg
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. You Track or equivalent)
