Linux Engineer

Overview

A leading global hedge fund is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join its global infrastructure team, responsible for a complex Linux estate supporting critical trading systems and low-latency platforms. This role involves collaboration with application, trading, and support teams to design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure that underpins global trading operations. You will have scope to influence platform strategy, lead automation initiatives, and work at the intersection of infrastructure, performance engineering, and software development.

• Build and enhance monitoring and observability capabilities across the infrastructure stack
• Analyse, troubleshoot, and tune performance across systems, networks, and applications
• Support build and release management processes in a fast-paced environment
• Own and evolve the Linux platform supporting global, latency-sensitive trading environments
• Partner with application and support teams to deliver a secure and scalable infrastructure
• Lead the design and long-term evolution of automation frameworks, tools, and processes

• Deep expertise in Linux systems, ideally Red Hat-based distributions
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Experience with build and release management systems
• Strong programming skills in Python and Bash
• Experience building and operating large-scale and/or low-latency platforms
• Strong background in automation and configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef), including architectural ownership
• Strong understanding of the server network stack and network protocols (TCP, UDP, IGMP, LAN/WAN technologies)
• Proven experience in performance analysis and tuning
