We are seeking a VP of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead Nscale's global reliability function. You will own the strategy, execution, and leadership of our SRE organisation, ensuring our GPU-accelerated cloud operates with world-class reliability, observability, and operational excellence. You'll be responsible for building and scaling SRE teams, defining reliability practices, and driving automation and resilience across infrastructure. This is a high-impact role that will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Operations leadership to deliver a secure, performant, and reliable platform t you'll be doing
- Define and execute Nscale's global SRE strategy, aligning reliability goals with business outcomes.
- Build, scale, and lead a world-class SRE organization, including hiring, mentoring, and developing talent across multiple regions.
- Own service reliability frameworks, including SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets, embedding them into engineering culture.
- Drive the design, automation, and operation of infrastructure platforms across bare-metal, Open Stack, Kubernetes, and Slurm environments.
- Establish best-in-class incident management practices - minimising MTTR and maximising learning from post-mortems.
- Partner with Observability, Infrastructure, and Product teams to deliver 360° visibility across GPU clusters, fabrics, and services.
- Guide capacity planning and scaling strategies, ensuring platform resilience as Nscale expands globally.
- Champion automation-first principles across provisioning, monitoring, CI/CD, and operational workflows.
- Provide executive-level reporting on reliability, operational performance, and capacity to senior leadership.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in SRE, automation, and AIOps, applying them to Nscale's infrastructure at scale.
The responsibilities outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and are intended to provide a general overview of the position. - Deep technical understanding of GPU-based infrastructure, distributed systems, networking, storage, and modern datacenter architectures, with the ability to influence design decisions for reliability.
- Strong background in cloud-native and platform technologies, including Kubernetes-based environments, container orchestration, and service-level abstractions.
- Proven ownership of observability strategy across complex systems, defining what to measure, how to alert, and how to continuously improve signal quality.
- Demonstrated success implementing and enforcing SLIs, SLOs, and error budget frameworks to balance reliability, velocity, and innovation.
- Comfortable operating at the intersection of infrastructure engineering, hardware, and software teams, driving reliability across the full stack.
- Track record of leading major incidents at executive level, providing calm technical leadership, clear communication, and decisive action.
- Strong technical credibility with automation-first thinking, guiding teams to reduce toil through code rather than process.
- Experienced people leader with a focus on hiring, developing, and retaining senior SRE talent, and building high-trust, high-accountability teams.
- Able to clearly articulate reliability risk, capacity constraints, and availability trade-offs to executives, customers, and partners.
- Proven success delivering measurable reliability and availability improvements in fast-scaling, high-growth environments.
- Nice to have Prior leadership experience within hyperscalers or global cloud / AI infrastructure providers.
- Direct exposure to AI/ML platform reliability challenges, including GPU scheduling, performance isolation, and capacity management.
- Experience driving Infrastructure-as-Code and platform automation strategies (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
- Awareness of power efficiency, cooling, and sustainability…
