Data Center Manager – Amazon
As a Data Center Manager in Amazon, you will get to manage the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure. You will encounter interesting, challenging, and complex problems every day. As a technical manager, you can innovate to solve these issues and help drive Operations Excellence in all areas of your role.
Responsibilities- Managing and developing teams of technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house data centers.
- Helping build and bring online new data centers.
- Constantly improving all processes and procedures to ensure we can innovate and improve.
- Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
- Liaising with internal teams and management groups.
- Ensuring compliance with and exceeding local Health & Safety standards in all data centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of the data centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management and capacity management.
- 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment.
- Experience in incident, threat, corporate investigations, law enforcement, security operations, crisis management or a related field that involves threat assessment, workplace investigations,/or incident response.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling and cost reports.
- Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows).
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred.
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, Dev Ops, or other IT infrastructure domain).
- Experience in safety and security measures, ITIL foundation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for explaining complex concepts.
- Proven management ability in previous roles within data centers or similar technical environments.
