The UW Technology Portfolio is seeking to recruit a detail-oriented and Data Modeller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting data, analysing results, and providing actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making. The Data Modeller will work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and help them utilize data effectively. A Data Modeller is responsible for collecting, processing, and performing statistical analyses on large datasets to help organizations make informed business decisions.
As a Data Modeller, you will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining data models that support business processes, downstream data integration, reporting and business decision-making. You will collaborate with stakeholders, including data architects, business analysts, and developers, to ensure that data models align with business requirements and facilitate data integration and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data architecture, data warehousing concepts, and experience with various data modelling techniques.
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that meet business requirements and data management standards.
- Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings clearly and effectively.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and other stakeholders to gather and analyse data requirements.
- You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models.
- Create and maintain documentation for data models, data flow diagrams, and metadata.
- Ensure data models align with organizational data governance and quality standards.
- Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and usability in data warehouse and reporting environments.
- Create and maintain metadata documentation, including data dictionaries and model diagrams.
- Analyse existing data sources and systems to identify opportunities for optimization and integration.
- Work with database administrators to implement data models in the database environment.
- Assist in data migration and integration projects, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Perform data profiling and analysis to ensure data accuracy and quality. Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in data modelling and database design.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Modeller, Data Analyst, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling techniques (ERD, UML, etc.) and tools (e.g., ERwin, Oracle SQL Developer, Microsoft Visio).
Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgre
SQL).- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., ETL processes, OLAP).
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL and ability to write complex queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
